Installing, the three capture modes, editor shortcuts, and what to do when a page misbehaves.

Install

Full Screen Capture Plus is not on the Chrome Web Store yet. Until it is, install it as an unpacked extension:

  1. 1Download the extension folder and unzip it somewhere permanent.
  2. 2Open chrome://extensions in Chrome.
  3. 3Turn on Developer mode using the toggle in the top right.
  4. 4Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder.
  5. 5Pin the extension to your toolbar and you're done.

Capture modes

Capture Selected Area

Drag a marquee over the page. A live readout shows the pixel size. Copy straight to the clipboard, or open it in the editor. Press Esc to cancel.

Capture Element

Hover to highlight the element under your cursor. Press ↑ to select its parent or ↓ to step into its first child, then click to capture. Elements taller than the screen are scrolled and stitched automatically.

Capture Full Page

Scrolls the whole page and stitches it into one image. Fixed headers and cookie bars are shown once rather than repeated on every frame.

Troubleshooting

Nothing happens on this page. Chrome blocks extensions from capturing chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, the built-in PDF viewer, and other extensions' pages.

A section is missing or blank. Pages that load content as you scroll are the hard case. Scroll the whole page once yourself so everything has loaded, then capture again.

Copy to clipboard did nothing. Some sites block clipboard writes via their permissions policy. Use Open in Editor and copy from there instead.

A very long page looks scaled down. Browsers cap a canvas at roughly 16,300 pixels on its longest side, so taller captures are scaled to fit.
